HI-TEC LIQUID MOUNTAINEERING HITS 10 MILLION VIEWERS!

Hi-Tec are celebrating this week after their truly inspirational ‘Liquid Mountaineering’ viral reached over 10 million YouTube viewers.

The documentary-type film was launched in May 2010 and features three guys who run across lakes thanks to the water repellent qualities of their Hi-Tec Ion-Mask ® shoes. Hi-Tec cleverly seeded the viral film which grew organically and as a result gained a cult following. Hi-Tec exposed themselves as creators two weeks later with many viewers still wanting to “believe” the phenomenon of walking on water and passionately discussing on forums around the world the question of “real or fake?” Some even took to the water themselves to try and recreate the viral with extremely funny “copy-cat” Liquid Mountaineering videos.

Hi-Tec’s Liquid Mountaineering viral has, to date, won numerous awards from around the world for its innovation and popularity. The latest being a BRONZE LION at the World’s most prestigious marketing awards held on 19-25 June in Cannes and the Best Viral Mocumentary at the 2011 Advertising Age awards held at the beginning of the year in New York.

The Infinity Run

As a follow up to Liquid Mountaineering’s global success Hi-Tec have also launched an online computer game called The Infinity Run.

Available to play on the Hi-Tec website and the Liquid Mountaineering Facebook page, it allows players to achieve what man has attempted for centuries; the ability to walk on water. Players can choose from the three Liquid Mountaineers who starred in the original video and try their luck at running on three lakes ranging from Alaska to Brazil. Not only must they have the speed and skill to run on water, but players must also avoid the dangers lurking in the depths which can pop up at any moment.

The lucky player who obtains the highest score each week will receive a pair of Hi-Tec V-Lite Infinity trainers; the very shoes that helped the Liquid Mountaineering crew ‘walk’ on water.
