The Royal Wedding: An Opportunity for more Hiking

The Royal Wedding: An Opportunity for more Hiking

Everybody loves a Royal wedding, especially when it means they get an extra Bank Holiday. This extra day-off makes a fantastic excuse to dust off your hiking boots and take in some of the great British outdoors.

A Royal Wedding
The announcement that Prince William and Kate Middleton would finally tie the knot on Friday 29th April was met with universal acclaim across the United Kingdom. This good news (coupled with an extra bank holiday) warmed the hearts of people across the world, as well as Great Britain.

It’s difficult not to buy into the furore surrounding the Royal Wedding. From commemorative plates to commemorative tea towels, the merchandise is all part of the fun. However, once you combine this with wall-to-wall media coverage, it will not be long until you are oversaturated by the whole affair.

A Royal Hike
There are those who will want to get away from the frenzy surrounding the Royal wedding. Not everyone will fancy vegging-out in front of the television all day, watching replays and analysis of the happy couple exchanging their vows.

A great idea for these people wanting to capitalise on the extra day-off and escape the wedding hype is to don their hiking boots and take a ramble in the British countryside.

The Royal wedding falls right in the heart of spring, meaning you’ll be able to reap this season’s benefits on your hike. The grass will be lush, the flowers will be in bloom and there will be new born lambs in the fields.
What’s more, this day off is followed by the Early May Bank Holiday, so there is real scope for those looking to take in a long weekend of hiking. You may want to book into a cosy bed and breakfast and enjoy three days of solid hiking.

All in all, a hike will serve as the perfect antidote for those looking to escape the mass-frenzy that will be surrounding Westminster Abbey on that Friday.
