Held at the National Squash Centre for the third successive year the 2005 National Squash Championships is accepted worldwide as the premier domestic event with, in the mens event alone, 3 of the top 5 players in the World participating.

This year, investment managers Gerrard added their support to the existing partners - Hi-Tec Sports, Manchester City Council, England Squash, Honda, Dunlop-Slazenger, Sportsdiscount.com and the Manchester Evening News.

This years event saw Hi-Tec sponsored players Linda Elriani and Lee Beachill proudly lift the winning trophies. Beachill defeated his Pontefract Club team mate and fellow Hi-Tec player James Willstrop in the final, to become only the third player in the event's history to win the men's title three times.

It was fifth time lucky for Linda Elriani, who beat Alison Waters in straight games to win the title for the first time.

"People kept saying to me it was my year," said the jubilant champion afterwards. "I'm completely thrilled that I've finally done it - I'm almost lost for words which is unusual for me."

As title sponsors of the event, Hi-Tec's presence was unmissable, from the exhibition stand and banners at the event to the percentage of Hi-Tec sponsored players taking part. Our involvement in Squash stems from grass roots through to the very best professional players, as well as supporting the facilities and events that are essential for the development of the sport.
