Projects to make London Southend Airport a fully functioning international gateway by 2012 are well underway. A new Control Tower is now operational, as is the new airport railway station. London Southend Airport’s new passenger terminal will be completed in the coming months, as will its runway extension. In March 2011, Aer Arann started operating two daily return flights from Southend to Galway and Waterford, and easyJet will commence 70 departures each week to Amsterdam, Alicante, Barcelona, Belfast, Faro, Ibiza, Jersey, Malaga and Mallorca from April 2012. The airport is predicting passenger growth to 2 million passengers per year by 2020. More information at www.southendairport.com
After a terrific response to news that Essex holidaymakers will once again be able to jet off to Italy on a package holiday from London Southend Airport for the first time since the 1970’s, Newmarket Holidays believes their recently announced breaks to Lake Garda, Venice and the surrounding areas will be “the first of many.”
News of the first flight, on 17 June 2012, to Bergamo sparked an instant wave of interest from people keen to make the most of travelling to Northern Italy from their local airport. And Newmarket is confident that London Southend will become a regular addition to their UK-wide range of regional departures.
The current holidays feature four different itineraries – resort-based ‘lakes and mountains’ stays and fascinating escorted tours. It’s always important to ensure when walking anywhere that the correct types of walking shoes are used for the specific environment. So if your planning a week away exploring, make sure you check out our wide range of walking boots that will help keep feet dry, comfortable and supported.
