It is getting to the time of year now where we begin to speculate about where we will take our summer holidays. Choosing whether we fancy a domestic jaunt or a journey to foreign lands can be an exciting process.
Regardless of where you choose to take your vacation, here are three reasons you should ensure you have packed your hiking boots.
Exercise
It is easy to slip into a lazy routine when you are on your summer holidays. After all, they are all about relaxing – whether this is by a pool or on the beach. This is all well and good, but sometimes it is nice to get a bit of exercise on your holiday. It’ll release some endorphins and help you relax.
Hiking doesn’t have to be the crux of your trip; it can just be incorporated into the rest of your activities. There may be some fantastic hiking routes located near to wherever you are holidaying, so it is certainly worth doing a bit of research.
Outside the norm
Many of us fall into the usual tourist traps when we’re on our holidays – whether these are the local attractions or visitor hotspots. Taking a hike will get you outside of these tourist circles and off the beaten track. It may mean taking a bus to a neighbouring town, whose economy isn’t primarily fuelled by tourism.
Wildlife
Wherever you go on your holidays, if you go for a hike then you are guaranteed to see some wildlife unique to the location you are. This is another great reason to go for a hik. Keep your eyes peeled for birds and animals you may not be used to seeing. The more exotic your holiday location, the more exotic the wildlife you see will be!
