Hi-Tec Ultra Trail Series 2012

2012 sees the launch of our very own series of ultra trail events, handled by experience endurance events company, Extreme Energy.

Since the launch of our highly technical and visually stunning range of trail running shoes – V-Lite Infinity – we’ve really stepped up our involvement in the trail running event arena.  Having worked with Extreme Energy in 2011, this move into a branded series seemed like a natural step!

Laura Greenaway, Hi-Tec Marketing Communications Executive says:

“Following the success of our first serious range of trail running footwear, the launch of our own branded ultra trail series is wonderful for Hi-Tec.  It’s our chance to show that we’re serious about getting a foot in the trail running shoe market and this is supported by our V-Lite Infinity products - the ultimate fusion of technologies designed to deliver peak performance.”

Neil Thubron, Director of Extreme Energy says:

"The Extreme Energy team are very excited to be teaming up with Hi-Tec for our 2012 Ultra Trail Series. We have designed our events to inspire our competitors to push themselves past their physical and mental limits, so it is fantastic to work with such an established experienced outdoor company whose motto is "Inspired by Life". We are convinced that Hi-Tec will bring loads to the trail running community and our endurance athletes"

5 EVENT – 12 DAYS – 370 MILES

Consisting of 5 events over 12 days covering 370 miles, the Hi-Tec Ultra Trail Series 2012 is aimed at the serious trail runner, those who want a new challenge, people looking for an alternative to running marathons, or those training for bigger events like the Marathon Des Sables or Ultra Trail De Mont Blanc.  In fact, in some of the events runners are able to earn qualifying points for the 2012 Ultra Trail du Mont Blanc – the pinnacle of the European Trail Race calendar.

Offering a complete package of overnight accommodation, transportation and food, in stunning off-road routes in the south of England, the multistage events hosted along some of the most famous trails offer great camaraderie and a fun atmosphere!

First up for 2012 is The Pilgrim Challenge which takes place on 4th & 5th February.  This multistage race along the North Downs National Trail, the oldest trade route in England, covers 66 miles over 2 days, and follows the North Downs Way in Surrey, from Farnham through to Merstham.

Next up is The Pony Express on 5th & 6th May.  This 2 day race in the New Forest National Park takes runners through 60 miles of ancient woods, pine forests, high heather moors and grass lawns, with wonderful views over high plains and possibly glimpses of the New Forest Ponies!

Third on the 2012 calendar is the Round the Island multistage ultra which follows the Isle of Wight Coastal Path clockwise around the island, covering 70 miles over 2 days.  Always on the same weekend as the famous Round the Island Sailing Race, next years’ event takes place from 30th June-1st July.

Taking place from 21st-23rd September is The Toad Challenge.  Run over 3 days along the stunningly beautiful and reasonably flat Thames Path, runners are treated to 90 miles of wonderful views along the route which winds its way from Oxford through Henley, Marlow, Maidenhead and Windsor.

The fifth and final event is the The Druid Challenge which takes place from 9th-11th November.  Covering 84 miles in 3 days, the race takes place along the oldest roadway in the UK (dating back to 3000BC!).  The route follows the Ridgeway path from Ivinghoe Beacon in Buckinghamshire to Barbury Castle near Swindon in Wiltshire.
