Disappointing - Starting to fall apart

After just 5 months I am really disappointed that the rubber sole is coming away for the foam and in places the foam is coming away from the shoe at flex points.
Such a disappointment as they are comfy but the life of them is so poor. Hide
Brilliant piece of kit

A 'shadow' of its former self

low-level alpine paths and rock-hopping. And when brand new they were fine for smart office use (though I prefer them once they had a bit of use, and dulled down). And I’d wear each pair into the ground and be happy every other year or so to buy a new pair, keeping the old ones for really rough use. But the build quality has gone seriously downhill recently. My last three pairs have each barely lasted a few months each - of just simple driving and walking around the office or garden - never mind any activity - before starting to fall apart. Had they not been brought from a reputable store, I might have thought they were selling me counterfeits. Either the soles have come loose or worn through, or, as in my latest pair, the entire heel unit has started to separate and the top fabric has snagged and ripped far too easily. Sadly, I’ve now lost confidence in both the Silver Shadow model and, worse, in the Hi-Tec brand. As well as new trainers, I’m looking for new walking boots as my big leather alpine boots are just too heavy for easy mountain use. But I won’t risk Hi-Tec again. This is such a shame.

I'm really sorry to hear you're unhappy with your purchase, and also very surprised to read that you have had such problems with this style. I've had a chat with our customer services department and they have advised that returns on this style are extremely rare despite it being one of our best sellers, so it's certainly not a common issue.
We do offer a 365 day warranty on all our footwear, which is guaranteed if you purchase directly from our website. Some of our retailers will also honor this, so depending on who you purchased them from, you may be able to return them for inspection. If a fault is found, we would of course replace them, or offer you a refund if you purchased directly.
