Hi-Tec sponsored player, Amr Shabana lifted the Men’s World Open Squash title for the 4th time on Saturday 7th November 2009 at Green Island Resort in Kuwait.  Shabana becomes only the fourth player in history, after Geoff Hunt (AUS) Jahangir Khan (PAK) and ex Hi-Tec player Jansher Khan (PAK), to win four World Open crowns.

World number two Shabana and the defending champion Ramy Ashour battled it out in an all-Egyptian final; one which undoubtedly attracted the standing-room-only crowd.

Playing controlled squash and using his trademark return of service extremely effectively, as well as his Hi-Tec 4:SYS Squash shoes, helped Shabana record his historic 11-8, 11-5, 11-5 victory in 50 minutes.  When asked how he felt, equalling the achievements of Hunt and the Khans, the Prince of Cairo responded: "It's a dream.  You don't think about it - you just dream about it.”  "It will take a month or two for it to sink in," concluded the new World Open champion.

With regards to his global footwear sponsorship agreement, Shabana has previously commented: "It is great to be a part of such a famous Squash brand, I know of the work that has gone into their new shoes and it’s great to wear on court. The cushioning and grip is fantastic, they are so comfortable, light and they really help my game and protect my body.

Hi-Tec have sent a personal well done to Amr Shabana; we’re very proud of what he has achieved!
